gynocologists are wrong!From: Todd (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Aug 2002 19:48:38 -0500 (CDT)
My girlfriend recently told me she had been to a gynecologist at the age of 15. I was appalled by what she told me. She was made to endure a full exam, and afterwards the doctor told her it wasn't necessary but was done "just-in-case." Why gynecologists feel the need to subject girls to an exam of this nature just on a whim is beyond me. I don't think many realize just what these doctors are doing. My girlfriend's and I'm sure many other girls' first sexual experience was not with a person they loved, but with an older male stranger. Her virginity was technically taken away by this stranger, who tore her open, and inflicted pain on her in a sexual manner. She had to lay exposed and in a demeaning position, while a strange doctor fingered her and touched her intimate areas and embarrassed her. If this was any other situation but at the hands of a "doctor" it would be considered molestation. It sickens me to think about it, and that people actually think this is ok. What gynecologists are doing to girls is WRONG! It is molestation. In any other case a man doing these sorts of things to a young girl would be put in jail, but just because he's a "doctor" its ok, even if the exam was unnecessary, as in the case of my girlfriend. It is downright appalling! I would never let my daughter be in such a demeaning, embarrassing, and painful situation at the hands of a strange man no matter who he is, and I wish I could do something to prevent you people from doing this to so many other girls.
