Jen Jen, If I understand your post correctly you've been taking BCP for cramps only but not for birth control, but you want to stop because of weight gain. Have you tried anti-inflammatories (presciption Motrin, etc?) You could try Planned ParentHood or similar health clinic that treats patients free or for a small fee. I'm not sure of the relevance of your comment that your doctors are male but you don't have a preference. I would imagine the clinics have a blend of female/male. Anyway, the fact that they are male doesn't mean they can't treat you because they don't get cramps. I've had male doctors who take my pain very seriously, and I once had a female who didn't. Just an observation: a cardiologist doesn't need to have a heart attack to treat heart patients.
