Amenorrhea...

I'm doing a research project on eating disorders and their effects on a woman's body. My question is this: When a girl regains her normal level of weight, will her periods come back to normal on their own or will medical intervention be needed? If their hair thinned, will it ever be the same again? I've looked all over the internet and found no direct answers to these questions. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!
