BC pills are hormone based medication that basically prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation and/or making the lining of the uterus inhospitable for the fertilized ovum. They come in different copmbinations and doses. Most combine estrogen and progesterone in doses that try to imitate the physiological hormonal cycle. BC pills can also be used in treating some gynecological disorders.
