Reply: William McIntosh, MD: "Re: Where the heck is my period?" I have been having strange symptoms over the last couple of months. I posted a question before about frequent menstration, but now I'm having the opposite problem. I was bleeding for 55 days straight, then would have a period about every 15 days. I had a polyp that has since resolved itself and a lemon-sized cyst on my ovary that ruptered. Since then, I cant seem to have a period. The last time I had a period was 39 days ago and I'm going crazy. I'm extremely bloated, crampy, cranky, etc. My doctor wanted to put me on the pill the first day of my period to try to get my bleeding under control, but since I havent started a period yet, I cant start the pill. Also, I'm having a lot of pain again on the ovary that had the ruptured cyst. I called the docs office and she said "it's probably retained fluid from the ruptured cyst" and didnt seem worried about my not having a period for 39 days. I'm a little concerned, should I just keep waiting to start a period, or is there something I can take to help "move it along"?
