history of male drug use and birth defectsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 11 Jul 2002 10:15:52 -0500 (CDT)
My husband has a history of serious drug use - for at least 10 years he used everything: pot, meth, xanax, loritab, rohypanol, lsd,and much much more - anything except shooting up. It is possible for him to father a child, because years ago before we met he did get his girlfriend pregnant, but she had an abortion. Now he is clean and has been for at least two years, except for occassional use of weed, which has now stopped. My question is, with a history of serious drug use, are there possibilities of birth defects even now? His twin brother was also involved in heavy drug use including shooting up, even when he got his girlfriend pregnant, but their child is fine and wonderful.
