no period, random pain, no pill (urgent)From: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Jun 2002 20:32:37 -0500 (CDT)
I have posted before, but I'd like to put everything together and hopefully get a response. I'm 17 years old and have been having my period since I was 11 years old regularly. The cycles were always normal, cramps were never horrible, and it always was predictable and on time. For nearly the past year I have been experiencing horrible cramps for 1 day prior to my period and 3 days during as well. This new pain was becoming consistent. I normally start between the 10th or 12th of every month but last month I began menstruating on the 2nd, stopped on the 9th, and spotted on the 13th lightly only for that one day. This month I still haven't had any signs of cramps or menstruation and it's already the 17th. I made an appointment with a gynecologist for the 9th of July, but I'm concerned that might be waiting too long. Should I be going to the doctor sooner? Also, what might cause these symptoms? There is NO chance of pregnancy or STD's; I do not have vaginal intercourse and I've been with the same partner for nearly 2 years. We are very cautious with ejaculation and pre-ejaculate as well. My mom is going with me to the doctor, but she is into the "natural" way of medicine (i.e. take vitamins instead of prescribed medication). Is there any way she could be convinced if I might need the birth control pill? I'm going out of town tomorrow afternoon, but any advice or comments would help me right now. Thank you for anyone who shares their time and knowledge.
