Hi there, well you can still get pregnate while on BCP it is best to use another form of birthcontrol with the pills. Also other means of birth control help prevent STD's. I have heard of some women having a period while being pregnant. But sometimes the BCP do give your pregnacy type symptoms if you want to rest your mind you can take a pregnacy test it will not be effected by your BCP. If the symptoms are that bad from the pills you might want to see your doctor and try another kind. Take care and good luck.
