There's quite a bit in the archives on the first gyno visit, so check there first. Yes, if you are sexually active, you should be seen. If you are having trouble finding a gyn who accepts Medicaid, you could try seeing a GP (family practice doctor). Many of them do PAP smears at least several times per week, do pelvic exams, and as far as I know most accept Medicaid. Many women , even those with private insurance, see a GP for routine gyn care, and get referred to the gyn for non-routine matters or pregnancy. My own preference is to see a gyn, and if you can find one, I would do that.
