i've been on ortho tri-cyclen for over 2 years now, with only a slight weight gain (about 5lbs). i never had any sort of spotting, even when i started the pill but for the past 2 months, around the beginning of the second week of pills, i have been spotting. it also feels like i have slight cramps. i will be on the last day of the third week tomorrow, and the spotting has not stopped. my past period was normal, but i think i want to switch birth control pills because spotting is annoying- i've heard good things about yasmin, but would it help the spotting? i know it's got to do with hormone levels but which some places say estrogen, some say progesterone. i tried alesse briefly and hated it- i broke out and was hungry all the time- and i'd rather not have a pill that makes me gain any weight or makes me break out, which is why yasmin interested me.
