Period on EstrostepFrom: Nancy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 May 2002 09:29:56 -0500 (CDT)
My 17 year old daughter started taking Estrostep five months ago and has never missed a pill. Before beginning Estrostep, she had very heavy, painful periods which were regular. She doesn't have any cramps now but her periods seem strange to me. The first two months on Estrostep her periods were much lighter, but she still needed a tampon. This I thought was OK for being on the pill. She also spotted the first month on them which I also know is normal. For the next two months, her periods were basically only spotting of light brownish color blood, requiring only a minipad for a day or two. She's now on day three of her reminder pills and has not gotten her period yet this month. She does have a steady boyfriend and is sexually active, but tells me they also use condoms. I seriously doubt she's pregnant. Is it normal to hardly get a period while on Estrostep or even skip it completely? From what I've read, different pills cause different types of periods and I was wondering if her periods are normal for Estrostep users. Also, do you think her pills should be changed to a different type so she will bleed more? Any information you can give me will be appreciated.
