Birth Control for Young CoupleFrom: KTP (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 May 2002 13:45:17 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 23 year old female (no pregnancies) and my partner is a 26 year old male. I have been on birth control pills for almost 5 years now and I am looking to get away from hormonal methods. My partner is sensitive to latex and therefore the condom is not a good choice for us. He's done alright when we've tried diaphragms, but I am worried about the effectiveness rate of that method. I recently have been diagnosed by colposcopy with LGSIL ectocervical only. Given that my HPV test was negative, we've elected to watch and wait with 3 month followup colpo-guided paps. Since my mother had problems conceiving my brother and I at around age 30, I hope to start trying to conceive at around age 27 (given that other factors fall into place prior). Given this history, what would you recommend for a birth control method?
