Siegel, M.D.: "Re: anal cramps" I don't know exactly how to describe this, but during the past 6 months, I've been having problems with very very strong cramps in the, um, anal vicinity. They are like painful contractions, and are the worst when I am (trying to sleep) in the middle of the night or early morning. Only muscle relaxants seem to alleviate them, because Advil doesn't even touch the pain. The cramps will usually stick around for a few days and come back a few weeks later.
