I had an abnormal papsmear too, and it turns out I had HPV, there are many different kinds of HPV, and it is a virus so it will not "go away" but it can be treated. On your question, you dont have to have unprotected sex to get this, you can get it from protected sex, so that doesnt matter. Many women have this and I recently had a cervical LEEP done to "take care" of my dysplasia. I hope everything works out for you, I am sure it will. This is not something to get overly worked up about. Write me back if you have any questions, you should have my return e mail address if not it is MeganOittinen@hotmail.com
