cervical cystFrom: Priya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 Apr 2002 23:20:34 -0600 (CST)
I'm 25 years old. I have been having cervical infections in the past. After I had my baby two years ago, I was treated for cervicitis and had a cryo--(I forgot the word). THe inflammated area was burned by a laser procedures. I started taking OC (marvelon) since then. My gynaec told me that I'm prone to infection and that OC may cause them to return. So, she told me to come back for a routine check up every sixth months. Since I had my procedure, I've haven't had any infection. Since last September I could feel a small lump on my cervix on self exam. I thought it would go away, it slowly seems to get bigger. For some reasons, I haven't been able to see my old doctor. I went to a new gynaec in December, she did a pap smear and told me it was normal. She also said that there is no lump only a tear in the cervix. But I never felt the tear before that. Now, the lump is getting bigger. It's almost closing off my cervical opening. I'm going to go and see my old doctor. I just wanted to know, what is the procedure for treatment here. Could it be cancerous? or is it a regular cervical problem? What kind of treatment would it require? Thank you.
