I would say if you are not having specific symptoms and have a primary care physician that you are comfortable with, and that doctor regularly does "well woman" care, they can take care of your routine needs as well as minor problems that occur. Some women prefer to have an OB/GYN exclusively for both complex gyn problems and routine care. Experience as well as your personal comfort level with that physician counts highly, especially with a bad experience so fresh in your mind.

Good Luck.
