Taking Colace - Very UncomfortableFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 3 Apr 2002 10:16:31 -0600 (CST)
Yesterday I went to the doctor, and she gave me a prescription for 100mg caplets colace because she was concerned I might be constipated. I am to take two a day. I have been following these directions but, so far, have not had a bm. The ironic thing is, I wasn't really uncomfortable before - now I am uncomfortable bordering on pain! I feel like I need to go to the bathroom, and my abdomen is cramping, but nothing comes out. I called the doctor's office this morning in case this was cause for concern. They told me that it takes the colace a couple of days to work, (that it is not a laxative) so i shouldn't worry that I'm not having immediate results. So I feel somwhat reassured, but I'm still hurting. Is there anything else I can do, in addition to taking this medicine, to relieve the pressure in my abdomen ? Might something like metamucil be okay - just so I can have a bowel movement?
