A cycle starts from 1st day of period. This is day 1. Lets say you started April 1st. April 1st would be day 1. Lets say next period began May 1st. That would mean day 30 would be April 30th. Therefore a 30 day cycle. The "textbooks" say anormal cycle is 28 days. I have yet to find a whole lot of women with a true 28 day cycle.Really long cycles like 40+ days sometimes indicate a lack of ovulation
