Re: 'Shy' cervix?

Hi,

Sorry you are feeling so bad right now, but I'd say 1)no that is not the common experience and 2)if you feel you did not get the right proceedures done, you have the right to get copies of your records, just to make sure.

You may find you have nothing to worry about. The nurse may have been inexperienced and not sure what to say or isn't aware that how she responded upset you. Give it some time to let that "sting" wear off and you may wish to let her know.

I've had more exams than I can count, am not a virgin but my cervix is sometimes not immediately visible either. I'm asked to cough or things get repositioned a bit and everything's fine. If what the examiner is doing hurts, 9 times out of 10, they stop. If they don't it's because they want to get more information about what is hurting and where in case there is something else going on. I hope this helps and that you'll get through the next experience with a bit less anxiety.
