Kelly Shanahan, MD, FACOG: "Re: Anal problem" I am a 22 yo female, and I have some odd, fleshy bumps in my anal area. They don't hurt me, but they have gotten pretty big. I have an appointment with a new doctor on Tuesday to evaluate the problem. Can anyone tell me what happens in an exam of the anus? For example, how does a doctor determine if you have hemorrhoids?
