Chrissy,

Since you are taking this short term to bring on your late period, your risk for cancer is probably zero. It is true that hormonal pills (such as birth control pills) increase your risk for breast cancer. On the other hand they decrease your risk for ovarian and uterine cancer. If there is no medical reason to bring on your period, then don't take it if you don't want to. I menstruated for over 30 years and was regular. One month when I was about 20 years old, my period was 16 days late. I wasn't pregnant and did not take anything to bring it on. It never happened again. If irregular periods continue I would return to the doctor.
