I took another pregnancy test on the 23rd- my period was already 14 days late. it was negative. i went to my doc and he tested me again on that day- negative. he said the test is very sensitive and has no cases of false negatives. he told me to see him in a week if my period is not here. by the 28th, it is still not here so he tested again, and it is still negative so pregnancy is practically ruled out since the pregnancy hormones would show by now. My doc attributed the delay to stress and prescribed me the hormonal pill NORETHINSTERONE 5mg and told me my period would come after 5 days.

My question is, is it safe to take it? he said the side effects are just tummy upset. but i read that hormonal pills can cause breast cancer, so im skeptic about taking it. can any doctors here advise please? thanks so much.
