Can't reach orgasm - could Zoloft be the cause?From: Tori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Mar 2002 15:08:23 -0600 (CST)
I am 32, and I was put on Zoloft when I was 28 and in grad school. I had just suffered a loss, and was diagnosed with depression. I do not have a sexual partner, but I do masturbate, and I have had particulary strong sexual needs since I turned 30. I have never had trouble reaching orgasm through masturbation, and I am even able to enjoy several orgasms in a day if I want to. My problem is that lately, I cannot reach orgasm under any circumstances. I do feel aroused, but after awhile I get dry and sore and the arousal lessens. And no matter what, I am not able to come. I am wondering if this is because of the Zoloft. Would I go back to normal if I quit taking the medicine? The prescribing doctor warned me there were "sexual side effects". At the time, it wasn't an issue, but now it is. I am not sure that I still need the meds-but I am not sure it's safe to just quit them cold turkey. I am not longer seeing the doctor that prescribed them for me, so I can't go back to her. Is Zoloft causing my lack of orgasms? Is it okay to quit taking the zoloft? If I do, will my sex life return to normal? Thanks,
-- Tori
