Thank You! Death from a bursting appendix is caused by a resulting infection in the abdomen,so I don't think it would kill you instantly. Any time you have severe abdominal pain that lasts for several hours,you should call your doctor or go to the ER. Apppendicitis can mimic many other conditions both serious and benign.- a serious one that comes to mind is ectopic pregancy. I am not a medical provider, but I did have an appendix that was removed just before it burst. I would imagine symptoms vary from person to person, but in my case it took a couple of days to develop and I got progressively worse; I definitely knew something was clearly wrong.
