Hi Deana,

Herpes are *usually* not tested for unless the person is obviously having an outbreak. A blood test can tell if the person has been exposed to the virus, however, 80% of the US population has been exposed to herpes. I would go back to your doctor and tell him or her what is going on, and request a herpes swab.
