STD testing - are there things that aren't tested for?From: Deana (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 6 Mar 2002 14:15:45 -0600 (CST)
I have been in a sexually active, monogamous relationship with my boyfriend for 5 months. We have both been tested to STD's and had negative results (except for my diagnosis with Bacterial Vaginosis - for which I was treated for). However, for the past two months my boyfriend has developed hard, white bumps at the base of his penis and it seems that there are a few developing on his shaft. They are not painful for him, nor are they pusy, but from pictures I have seen they look possibly similar to herpes. My question: Is a herpes test, etc., included in a normal STD test (pap smear, culture (sp?), and blood test), or are there diseases which are not tested for unless on specific request. My boyfriend has made an appointment with a dermatologist (as his doctor recommended him there), but I have noticed that lately I have been extremely dry and tight and sex is sometimes painful upon initial penetration. Is this psychological, or could it be a sign that there really is an STD??? Please help!!! Thank you so much for your time.
