Thank you for sharing this. It is something that could happen to anyone. I hae seen this more than once. If some young lady reads this and learns from it, you will have helped someone avoid this problem and maybe even Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Your description of the stench had me laughing out loud. Only because I have Been there. After a few years, this will be one of those things that you and your daughter look back at and laugh about.
