One of the biggest needs here is a doctor you can trust, and one that will make you feel comfortable. Do you have a family MD, or GYN that you feel comfortasble with? Have you tried bringing your mom, a friend, or your boyfriend wit you. Although a pelvic exam can seem awkward, it should not be painful. If you are having severe pain you need to have it checked out. Did you ask your doctor about some premedication with some Valium or Xanax?
