Re: Follow up on 'Fear of Pregnancy' etc..From: clare (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 18 Feb 2002 08:31:06 -0600 (CST)
Hi Ashley: I have read your original post and the responses to it. In my humble opinion, I think the replies you got were reflective of care and concern, and that Robin correctly answered your question. In your original post you said "I'm 14 and have never had intercourse but have been involved in limited sexual activities." You then asked if you could be pregnant, and state that you are quite stressed. Robin answered that stress can throw your cycle off, and suggested you see a Dr. to talk about birth control options. Now you say that you and your boyfriend "are not planning to do anything having to do with sex until we are married." Well, Ashley, take it from someone who's been down that road - you are engaging in sexual activity even if you're not actually doing the "deed". Why take offence to the answers you were given? Stress DOES affect your cycle, and birth control helps to regulate your cycle as well as protect you from pregnancy. Condoms protect you from STDs. Believe me, pregnancy at a youg age or an STD will definetly affect the rest of your life, and could possibly break your heart.... I think your question was asked and answered already. Best wishes.
