It took me until I was 29 to pluck up my courage, and I am a virgin as well, although I am looking forward to losing it! I felt on top of the world after I had gone through with it. It doesn't hurt, so long as you fully relax your muscles and make sure you have emptied yourself fully too beforehand, essential and I had a hot shower in the morning. They feel inside your vagina to make sure your organs ok and do the pap test, I hardly felt the speculum and the soft brush of the cells. If the nurse/doctor tries to make it all seem normal and sensible, then I found I wasn't really as embarrassed as I thought I would be. I felt cared for in the end, which is what it's all about. But I respect people who can't go through with it, just wait until mentally you are ready, much better and being a virgin you can afford to indulge yourself a bit longer if you really think you want to. I was glad I waited, but also glad I have broken my fear barrier.
