I am 19, not sexually active, and have a very irregular period. The last time I got it was around Thanksgiving, and now it's January. I have been experiencing the normal PMS symptoms during the past week or so, except i have not gotten my actual period yet. I have, however, noticed a strange light to dark brown discharge. I'm wondering if it could be old blood from a period I haven't had yet (i noticed a small amount of blood earlier today but now it's back to brown), or if it's something serious. I haven't had any itching, so I don't know if it could be an infection. I'm feeling some very light cramps, too. I'm a little scared because I can't imagine what I could've done to cause this...so I'm afraid that it might be something serious. My guess is that, due to stress, my body has been going a little out of whack, so that I missed a period and the brown spotting has to do with that.
