White vaginal discharge

I am 22 and have lately begun vulvar self examination. Am not sexually active but have had intercourse with a previous boyfriend. Lately I have noticed a fairly dense, creamy kindof off-white discharge around my inner labia and especially if I pull back the skin from my clitoris. I have always practiced good hygiene (bathe daily and use only mild, unscented soap, don't douche, use no scented products, etc.) Today I saw more than usual amount of this material up high in the vulva. I have pronounced labia, a fairly large clitoris and am often very "wet" and tend to perspire easily. I work as a librarian and sit most of the day, and I have to wear skirts and dresses, which means I almost always wear pantyhose, either with or without cotton lined panties. I have always had a fairly noticeable vaginal odor, especially a day or so after sex, but this has a different smell. My normal odor is more musky, but when I collect some of this white stuff on my fingers (it has an almost waxy texture to it, like partially dried lotion) the smell is very different, although not really offensive. I don't know quite how to describe it except that it smells mildly like swiss cheese or sweatty feet! Sorry but that's all I can think of. It wipes away no problem but returns every few days. No other symptoms. Sometimes I notice that it kindof balls up in places and I have to spread the skin back to wipe it off with a tissue. Never noticed this when I was younger. What is this and is it something I should be worried about? I have pelvic exam in a few weeks but was hoping someone could clue me in. Thanks!

Beth
