Hi Erin:

No, you don't have to tell your gyn that. When the doctor asks if you are sexually active, s/he means with others - the purpose of the question (I think) is to assess risk, as well as to know how to procede with the exam.

Please don't be embarassed to discuss anything with your gyn. S/he has probably heard it all. Frankly, a cause for possible concern would be if at 21 years old you had never mastubated! Best wishes.
