You may be more comfortable with a female, but remember you want an empathetic physician not necessarily the sympathetic physician. What is the difference? A sympathetic physician canned rightly say "that doesn't hurt, I've had been before." And empathetic physician would say, "that must hurt, let me see what I can do to make it feel better." As a male I can never be sympathetic with my patients, but I am very empathetic. Find someone that you can talk to, and are not afraid to have examined, male or female.
