Amy, I doubt that you have PID if you are a virgin. My first thought is that you could have endometriosis, a benign condition that can cause pain and cysts, and painful periods. It requires a degree of suspicion, and sometimes doctors don't think of it readily in younger women. It cannot be detected reliably by exam, although an exam is a first and reasonable place to start. You may end up having to have an operation called a diagnostic laparoscopy to figure this out. Good luck. Garry
