If the ectopic was ruptured or bleeding, then it is too late to try medical management. If the tube is severely damaged by the ectopic, then it can be beyond salvage. In fact, there are some studies that suggest that leaving the damaged tube behind just sets you up for another ectopic. However, the answers to your questions are with your surgeon. He should be able to explain each decision he made and why.
