micronor to possibly alesseFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Nov 2001 12:09:21 -0600 (CST)
Hi i am 24 and currently on micronor and leaned towards this form of birth control b/c I had experienced recurring yeast infections (which was actually due to spermicide - i no longer use condoms containing spermicide for protection). I had read that oftentimes high estrogen content in bc pills causes recurring yeast infections and chose micronor. I am very glad to be rid of the yeast infections now. I am finishing my second month on micronor and my main complaint is the breakthrough bleeding. I have read the boards regarding Alesse and am wondering if I should try this instead. I realize it has breakthrough bleeding as a side effect - but i would imagine that it can't be worse than an progesterone-only minipill?! i may be wrong. Please let me know what your experience of side-effects (severity, esp. yeast infections) for those on micronor vs. alesse. Also - there aren't many who use micronor longterm (i.e. beyond breastfeeding) -do you know what the experience of those people have if any. I can deal with some spotting etc - but i think it is more common and almost assumed on micronor. Please keep in mind that i don't want to experience recurring yeast infections either. Thanks.
