Atypical cells, that what is typically referred to as atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance or ASCUS, is just at undetermined significance. It can be secondary to wearing a tampon, recent intercourse, infection, inflammation, etc. etc. etc.. It is not a diagnosis but rather a description of cells.
