Amanda,

Your Dr. may be thinking Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). There is a forum on OBGYN.net for PCOS, so you might want to check them out. Also, if you go to the Women's Health Forum Archives and key in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, you will find a wealth of information.

If you are going years without a period, this needs to be looked at closely. I have always been told by my Doc and the Drs. on this forum, if you don't have a period after three months, you need to call the Dr. to get something to bring on a period. Not having a period as long as you state, puts you at risk of Endometrial Cancer.

You might want to find a Reproductive Endocrinologist, as they look more at the Reproductive organs. If this is who you are already seeing, find another one!

Hope this helps. Robin
