Infection?From: Lorraine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 20 Oct 2001 22:04:31 -0500 (CDT)
I am 23 years old and recently had my fist gynecologist visit this week. Unfortunately, since I went to a free clinic I don't think that I got the treatment that I deserved. Basically, the Dr. looked in me and said that I had an infection (Bacterial Vaginosis) and she could not do a pap smear. She expressed disbelief when I told her that I had NO SYMPTOMS. My question is, is it possible to have Bacterial Vaginosis without symptoms? Also, I don't know how long I've had it and what the effects of possibly having it for a long period of time. I am also a virgin. Is there anything to be concerned about? I have had other symptoms such as extremely painful periods etc. that cause me to be worried. My appt. was so rushed that I did not have the chance to ask the questions that I had.
