Re: how likely is pregnancy? when can tests exclude it?From: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 5 Sep 2001 18:47:27 -0500 (CDT)
I'm not a doctor but am a woman who is very in tune with her body and cycles. Since your girlfriend was only on day 2 or 3 of her cycle, it is very unlikely that she could be pregnant even if some pre-ejaculate was able to make it's way past the tampon. She would not be fertile until about cycle day 9 (at the earliest) if she has a 28 day cycle. To rule out pregnancy completely, she can take a home pregnancy test as soon as her next period is late, although I doubt it will be. A blood pregnancy tests could rule it out about a week earlier than that. Just look at this as a valuable lesson in why birth control is so important every time!
