do painful sex/bacterial infection go together?

I have been having very painful intercourse for a little over a month. I went to see my ob/gyn last week and was told I had a bacterial infection and was given an antibiotic and cream to prevent a yeast infection. My question is does a bacterial infection cause the pain during intercourse? I am finished with the antibiotic and am still having pain. The pain continues after intercourse and I have a burning sensation when I urinate. I also have night sweats, vaginal dryness, and some insomnia. Could it all be related? I am only 26 and do not want to think that I might be experiencing early menopause.
