If it is a small abrasion, it should heal without incident. I'm not a medical professional, so this question is probably best left for them. It is difficult to convince anyone to go to a Dr. if they do not want to go. Your girlfriend doesn't have reason to be embarrassed. Maybe if you can make her understand this, it will be easier. Whenever one is having any type of sexual relations, they should be seen by a GYN for a complete check up and birth control counseling. It is best to start some type of birth control (including condoms to help prevent STD's, including HIV and AIDS) before things go further. This is the responsible thing to do. So, if you talk to your girlfriend about it this way, she may be more willing to go. Best of luck! Robin
