I wonder if it was breakthrough bleeding you were experiencing on day 17, and not a true period.

OCP's can shorten the length of bleeding, and make the bleeding lighter. These are pluses as far as I am concerned!!!!!

I took Alesse and loved it. Can't take them any longer due to blood clots. It's too dangerous for me to try them again, even though the clots did were not a result of the OCP's.
