Hi Jennifer,

When you say abdominal pain, I am assuming you are talking in the pelvic region, so I will go from there. If I am incorrect, please let me know and I will try and help further.

Is your bleeding continual? The US was normal you said, so I would doubt fibroids, which can cause heavy, painful, and prolonged bleeding. There is Endometriosis, which is the lining of the uterus growing outside of the uterus on other places, such as the ovaries, tubes, bladder, ligaments, etc. Adenomyosis is Endometriosis within the muscle of the uterus which can also cause heavy, painful, and prolonged bleeding. Endometriosis can be diagnosed via Laparoscopy, so I am happy to hear you are scheduled for that. Adeno can be suspected, but only diagnosed via Hysterectomy with Pathology. Will your MD be doing a Hysteroscopy, where they look in the uterus with a scope? If this hasn't been mentioned, you may want to inquire about this, as it can be helpful in finding things such as polyps, which can also cause problems with bleeding.

I'm not a Dr., but a patient with Endometriosis and three laparoscopies for Endo and Adhesions. Sounds like your MD is moving in the right direction. Please, keep us posted.
