HELP--scared!!!!

I am 20 years old and was just this year diagnosed with PCOS by my endochronologist. I have never been to a gynecologist. I'm terrified (partly because of some past issues). I'm scared I'll freak out during it. My endochronologist said that since I have Polycystic Ovarian disease, I need to get a pelvic exam (I was diagnosed strictly by blood test results). Could I have a friend come in with me and stay with me the whole time? Where would she stand? Would she be able to see or not? Could they cover me up with a sheet? Could I just have the pelvic exam the first time that way I could keep on my shirt and stuff? I've heard that they talk to you the whole time to try to relax you. i would not like them to talk to me, or tell me what they're doing, or anything. Could I request that they not talk to me? If they need to ask me something, could I have my friend answer for me? I know this probably sounds totally crazy but this is how I am. I had to have a test on my gallbladder last week and I did not want the lady to look at me or talk to me, or anything. I just wanted her to be quiet and do the test, and if she asked me anything, I'd tell my friend (because she was right beside me) and she'd tell the lady. I'm just so scared! How long does this take? I know everybody says it's not as bad as it seems, but because of things I've been through, I'm terrified. I feel so stupid for how I am, but I can't help it. Thankx for ANY and all replies
