Jane,

Women with PCO can still get pregnant. So, not using birth control may leave you with something you aren't ready to handle.

Please, consider using condoms. They help to protect against STD's, including HIV. Remember, you are sleeping with everyone your partner has. If he tells you he is a virgin, still use condoms...there are many people out there that say they are virgins, never practiced any type of sexual activity, and this isn't necessarily the case. Sex is a lot of fun, but not worth the consequences if you are not protected effectively.

You say you are a young woman, but don't mention your age specifically. Please, discuss safer sex practices with your MD. Talk with your parents too. It may be difficult, but you may be very surprised at how supportive they can be.

Best of luck to you.
