Hello, I am a 20 year old college student. I started menstruating at the age of 12 and ever since my first period I have never missed a period and have had one every 28-30 days. My period lasts 5 days and is heavy the first 2 or 3 days and then tapers off. I always experience dysmenorrhea and take naprosyn for the pain. I have been sexually active with my boyfriend since february and always use condoms and a spermicidal lubricant. However I have not had sex or any type of physical contact since my last period in june. I have never used any time of hormonal birth control. This month I have not gotten my period and today is day 36 of my cycle. At days 28 and 29 I experienced some cramping but no bleeding and no discharge. I am very physcially active but I've been involved in athletics all my life and there has been no change in my level of athletic activity, sleeping habits, or eating habits this month. I read in the archives that stress can cause amenorrhea but I do not feel like I'm under more stress now than at school. The only stressful thing in my life now is applying to medical schools. I am planning on seeing a gynocologist for an annual check up in september but do you think I need to see someone immediately? I can't figure out what is causing this irreguar period without signs of infection like itching or discharge and without a change in lifestyle. Thank you for your time and advice.
