Re: Options For AmmenorheaFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 11 Jul 2001 20:38:58 -0500 (CDT)
You might want to make an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist for testing for PCOS. It sounds like some of your symptoms could be related to that diagnosis (it's more of a "clinical" diagnosis and symptoms are generally treated separately vs. one overall treatment process). Some of the more common symptoms are lack of/irregularity of menses, hirsuism (excess facial/body hair), weight problems, insulin resistance, ovarian cysts, etc. Not all of these symptoms have to be present in every patient. For more research/info on PCOS, there is a message board here at obgyn.net. It may not be this at all, but it's at least another option. An RE would be able to run the appropriate tests to rule it out at least. Good luck!
