I will be 17 on the 28th of july, and I have always had an irregular menstral cycle, but lately it has been horrible. My doctor put me on Accutane for my acne about 3 months ago, but i have read the side effects many many times and it says nothing about causeing irregular menstral cycles. I was wondering if I listed my symptoms if you could give me an idea of what might be wrong? As i said my period has always been irregular but it was irregular like i would have it for 5 to 7 days and then i wouldn't have it for 2 or 3 months..but a few months ago i started to get worried because i hadn't had my period in about 5 months so i went to the doctor..i knew it couldn't be pregnancy because i am still a virgin..but i went anyway..my docter said that since i had a family history of irregular menstral cycles that i would be fine but on the 12th of june i started my period. it lasted 4 or 5 days and on the 23rd of june i started agian. but insted of no pain, as i had been used to, i was awakened at 4:30 in the morning with very severe cramps & heavy "clumpy" bleeding..i figured it would go away but it didn't it is now the 25th and it is so heavy and so painful i am having to change my tampon every 2 hours or less and i am takeing 3 ibprofens every 4 hours. This is getting to be a little rediculious should i think about birth control to regulate it?..does it sound more serious than just an irregular period?..please give me some advice..
